ESSAY ON: The Salem Witch Trials of 1692

Number of Pages 7

This research paper: This is a 7 page paper discussing the background, main people and developments of the Salem witch trials of 1692. The Salem witch trials of 1692 are known throughout history as one of the most tragic occurrences of religious fanaticism overtaking a community. What appeared to be started by several young girls acting childishly against the restrictions imposed on them in their village ended in hundreds of people being accused, jailed and many executed for witchcraft. In Puritan Salem however, components of the religion did not allow for childish behavior as children were expected to act as piously as adults but did allow for the existence of witches; a combination which proved to be fatal for those accused and the community itself. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
