This research paper: A 6 page research paper/essay that compares three predictions about the nature of the post-Cold War world. Francis Fukuyama (1992), John Mearsheimer (1990) and Samuel Huntington (1996) provide predictions concerning the nature of the post-Cold War world. While these authors all perceive the end of the Cold War as precipitating a drastic change in the political power structures of the world stage, they are remarkably different in their assessments of what the future will hold. This examination of these works draws on the work of Marshall and Gurr (2003) in arguing that Huntington's arguments provide the most accurate forecast of political realities in the twenty-first century.
