ESSAY ON: John Rawls, Justice & Affirmative Action

Number of Pages 6

This research paper: A 6 page research paper that explores issues of economic distributive justice. Throughout its history, human societies have addressed issues of justice. While it is agreed that societies should be just, precisely what this means has been a matter of much debate. A particularly contentious sub-category of this argument has been in regards as to what constitutes economic justice, that is, "the proper distribution of social benefits and burdens" (Shaw and Barry, 2004, p. 105). In this regard, a variety of rival principles have been proposed. Examination of these various theories shows that the "Theory of Justice" outlined by John Rawls offers a comprehensive and fair framework for distributive economic justice. This is particularly evident when examined in light of affirmative action and equal employment opportunities. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
