This research paper: A 6 page review and critique of an article published in the American Journal of Nursing in 2001. Researchers established baseline values regarding how often health care workers washed their hands in two ICUs in a single hospital; introduced a waterless alcohol-gel hand sanitizing agent; and recorded subsequent incidence of hand antisepsis following that introduction. They found that workers increased their hand antisepsis activities by a significant rate using a combination of soap-and-water washing and cleaning with the alcohol-gel agent. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
