This research paper: A 4 page paper discussing resolution of quality problems at ARC. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) asked a federal court in December 2001 “to hold American Red Cross (ARC) in contempt of a 1993 consent decree covering ARC’s blood program.” It also requested that the court give the FDA authority to levy fines against ARC for noncompliance with blood supply standards. Though ARC is but one supplier of the nation’s blood, it furnishes approximately 45 percent of total supply. The purpose here is to evaluate the benefit that a total quality management (TQM) approach could bring to ARC in decreasing incidence of noncompliance and in elevating the safety of the nation’s blood supply. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
