This research paper: This 6 page report discusses the painting by Rembrandt Harmenszoon Van Rijn (1606-1669) titled “Belshazzar’s Feast.” It tells the biblical story of a ruler of Babylon who holds a feast using articles stolen from the Jewish temple. During the party, an apparition appears and writes a cryptic message to the ruler and his guests on the wall. Rembrandt portrays a great although often forgotten biblical story in ways that would assure that its impact was felt in ways that might never have occurred in the process of religious instruction. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
