This research paper: A 4 page paper discussing many of the differences in the US Airways of 2000 and that of the regional leader that emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2003. US Airways’ new regional strategy enables it to focus on sound, solid operations that can lead to growth in the more definite terms of solid business practice rather than merger and acquisition. The current plan that CEO David Siegel has set forth for the company looks much more like a Southwest of a decade ago than just another foundering airline that US Airways was in 2000. Management has used the difficulties at US Airways to restructure the business, build morale for the long term and enable a focus on superlative performance that naturally will lead to opportunities for growth and expansion.
