There are times that the phrase, “Knowledge is power,” is misused and misleading. This is not one of those situations, however. Marketers pay immediate and intense heed to consumer wishes when consumers are “voting with dollars” on the success of their various enticements to buy. Training children to recognize marketing pressures empowers them to make better choices for themselves, while also providing information that parents can use to reinforce the messages promoted.
