ESSAY ON: Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP): Treatment Of Attachment Disorders In Children

Number of Pages 8

This research paper: 8 pages in length. Animals have a unique way of drawing out the best in people; their nonjudgmental, soothing and uplifting qualities make humans gravitate toward them without really knowing why. This inherent affinity is of a particular benefit to those who have mental or emotional problems that prevent them from interacting with others in the conventional way. Using animals as therapy has proven an unprecedented success as a therapeutic tool with, for example, children who have unattached disorders; the emotional connection absent from those who never had the opportunity to develop the parental bond is recreated in such valuable programs as Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) with the horse playing the surrogate role as both mother and father in a completely nonthreatening environment. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
