This research paper: (10pp) In a life that spanned almost the whole of the nineteenth century (1802-1880), Lydia Maria Child wrote about and lived within controversy, becoming a "household name" when still relatively young. But that was almost two centuries ago, and Child and her work has not surfaced until the last decade. In this discussion we will look at the work of Child and her contemporary, Catherine Maria Sedgwicks, particularly how these nineteenth century women wrote of race and gender issues. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
