This research paper: This 8 page paper provides an overview of the importance of the use of birds as symbols in the works of Chaucer. Geoffrey Chaucer, 14th century author and poet, integrated metaphors created through different physical symbols into the imagery of his works. One of Chaucer's earliest works, Parlement of Foules, for example, integrates symbolism of animals and birds in the creation of a parable. Bird imagery, then, appears in number of different works by Chaucer, including Parlement of Foules, The Wife of Bath, The Nun's Tale, The Pardoner's Tale, and The Manciple's Tale. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
