In many respects, Apple Computer has been the popular villain of personal computers, evoking strong responses from virtually all corners. Those who are loyal to Apple products are extremely loyal; those who are not do not regard them as serious machines capable of performing serious tasks. Apple’s management has been protective of the products since their inception, but in 2002 the time had come for Apple to acknowledge the fact that creativity exists outside of the Apple complex.
