This research paper: 7 pages in length. Being an agnostic living in a very religious community only adds to the overall level of intolerance that permeates from this very close-minded small town. While I have the same skin color as every other resident, I am treated with covert disdain in many communications with locals and leaders, much of which has to do with the overriding attitude that anyone who is not part of the pious inner sanctum is forever an outsider. The same applies to those who not only come from a different race but also those who associate with racial minorities. This righteous, all-white community has a long history of isolating those its residents are conditioned to believe are less worthy than they are, yet this particular religious sect has proven to be extremely hypocritical in the mantra "do as I say, not as I do." As such, the community is divided into "us" and "them" with few instances of the two factions coming together. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
