This research paper: 6 pages. Because of the severe overcrowding of Texas prisons, the incidence of prison violence is becoming more and more common. In most cases it is the newer and weaker prisoners who are the victims of violence such as rape and gang beatings. In order to better correct this problem of prison violence, necessary actions would be to input basic prisoner information into the computer system such as what type group each prisoner should be housed with in order to ensure that the most violent of prisoners are kept with others of their kind, and the perpetrators of less violent crimes grouped accordingly. But is this a viable solution? This paper will deal with the topic of whether or not we should consider an inmate's crime and punish them accordingly. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
