This research paper: A 6 page paper describing Dorothy Orem’s model of self care, followed by a discussion of the model’s advantages and disadvantages. In this age of cost containment effort, self-care carries the promise of reducing the cost of direct patient care in those settings in which it can be used. Some of these situations include diabetic testing, wound care, or self-catheterization at home, among others.
