This research paper: 3 pages in length. Corburn (2005) has touched upon an aspect of environmental health issues that provides a hands-on viewpoint for policymaking that simply does not exist when decision makers are both physically and psychologically removed from the problems. Street science, an ideology that draws input from the very people who reside within a given community where environmental health issues exist, utilizes the collective benefit of community knowledge and the inherent contribution such firsthand familiarity lends to policy outcome. Incorporating street science more frequently into the decision-making process would change environmental policy by virtue of decision makers having a stronger foundation of knowledge from which to establish policy from a more informed perspective. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
