ESSAY ON: Prison Staff: Coping With Their Jobs

Number of Pages 7

This research paper: 7 pages in length. There is, perhaps, a no more stressful, dangerous, mentally and physically exerting or violent job as that of a prison guard. Those who seek such a demanding position are made of more intestinal fortitude than the average human being, inasmuch as the day-to-day, in-your-face challenges of controlling angry, antisocial inmates takes a significant toll upon even the strongest of individuals. In an ongoing effort to combat the negative aspects of such overwhelming work-related tension, it is critical that prison guards learn to manage their stress levels. In general, people do not know how to allow their bodies to relax, which is a natural method of stress control; rather, guards are all too often in a constant state of tension with no available release for their penned up stress, which becomes a significant concern for their overall health. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
