This research paper: A 6 page paper discussing environmental abuses and concerns in Pittsburgh in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, using three chapters of “Environmental History of Pittsburgh and Its Region.” The chapters discussed here provide valuable information on the course of events surrounding the decades-long controversies concerning Pittsburgh’s environment, but they overstep bounds in seeking to blame any of the causes we know of today. The results are the same, but seeking to point fingers rather than encouraging individuals to work for a common good is counterproductive and obscures lessons from the past that could be useful today.
