This research paper: 3 pages in length. The first and foremost aspect that defines the ethical foresight of anyone involved within the medical field is the Hippocratic Oath, which states practitioners shall first do no harm, a pledge that is blatantly ignored when psychologists play any role in torture situations that does anything other than help the detainee. Inflicting torture as a means by which to elicit confession is highly unethical for anyone to be involved with, yet it is especially heinous when mental professionals have sidestepped this oath with such unprincipled behavior. Today's fearful global society will go to nearly any lengths in order to obtain intelligence that may serve to thwart imminent terrorist activity, however, some of these tactics call into question the intrinsic value of the Hippocratic Oath when it is so easily dismissed.
